02.2Craft Practitioners

Capability held in practice.

A Craft Practitioner is a person actively engaged in a field of craft. This may include making, modifying, repairing or conserving products; undertaking one or more consequential stages of production; or transmitting the knowledge and skills of a practice where that transmission is grounded in practical capability.

Practice is the starting point.

Practitioner status recognises active participation in the sector. Practice may be commercial or non-commercial, may occur at any career stage and may use hand tools, machinery, digital systems or other production technologies.

Practitioner records can connect public discovery through Which Craft? with a persistent UPI and supporting product records in the provenance system.
