C.1Craftsmanship Star Rating

Assess the work—not the marketing.

The proposed Craftsmanship Star Rating applies to a defined product, batch, line or controlled process. It records the standard demonstrated by the assessed work; it does not award a personal star title to the applicant.

Defined work / evidence / field standard

A field-specific assessment of defined work.

Assessment begins by defining exactly what is being assessed and the field-specific standard against which it will be judged. The rating must be supported by an evidence record that identifies the material, process, consequential stages, practitioner contribution and assessment decision.

The Mapping report establishes the framework proposal. Exact rating levels, symbols, thresholds, permitted use and field criteria must be approved before any public rating is issued. ACA is therefore presenting programme information and preparation guidance, not claiming that Star Rating applications are currently open.
