Practitioner. Atelier. Master.

Practitioner, atelier and master recognition identify different forms of capability and responsibility. They remain distinct from a rating applied to defined work.

Recognition follows the evidence appropriate to the claim.

Practitioner recognition concerns an individual’s active capability and practice. Atelier recognition concerns the operating capability, standards and responsibilities of a workshop or production setting. Master recognition concerns sustained advanced capability, responsibility and contribution to the field, including transmission where applicable.

A master title is not the same as master-level craftsmanship demonstrated in a particular assessed product or process. Final recognition criteria, evidence requirements, assessors, review and renewal arrangements must be approved before applications are represented as open.
