Maker identity
A verified practitioner or producer connected through a persistent UPI.
A Digital Product Passport is structured, machine-readable product information linked to a unique product identifier. Strong provenance data can supply selected verified fields without making the entire provenance record public.

ACA treats a DPP as one use of a robust provenance record—not as a substitute for authorship, cultural authority, craftsmanship assessment or geographical-origin evidence. The UPI identifies the practitioner; a product identifier identifies the product record; provenance records the supporting relationships and evidence.
The EU’s central DPP Registry became operational on 20 July 2026. Product-specific requirements, access rights and timing will be determined through sector instruments, including the planned textile and apparel measures. Australian records therefore need to be precise, updateable and capable of controlled reuse.
