05.2Product Specification

Define what the protected name means.

The Product Specification is the shared technical and geographic rulebook for a proposed GI.

A product and working place outlined within an Australian landscape
Product / area / production stages

A claim about place must be capable of verification.

A specification records the protected name, product description, geographic area, materials, production stages, the link between product and place, evidence, controls, labelling and verification arrangements.

It must be precise enough to protect reputation without freezing a living practice unnecessarily or excluding legitimate producers without reason.
